  • Announce current events in Texas and encourage club members to travel Texas first.
  • Announce local art events.
  • Assist with “Christmas in the Big Thicket.”
  • Award Lucille Moreland Memorial Scholarship.
  • Award Vocational Scholarship to LIT if funds are available.
  • Call attention to breast cancer in October.
  • Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd.
  • Celebrate Recycle Day on November 15th.
  • Collect bingo prizes for nursing homes all year.
  • Collect new or like-new children’s books.
  • Collect new toys for Christian Care Center in November.
  • Collect used cell phones for Call to Protect Program.
  • Collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids.
  • Contribute to Texas Federation Penny Arts and Musical Penny Scholarships.
  • Contribute to TFWC Latin American Scholarship.
  • Encourage attendance at City and School meetings.
  • Encourage members to vote in every election.
  • Encourage observance of Texas Independence Day (March 2) and San Jacinto Day (April 21).
  • Encourage the Friends of the Library organization.
  • Honor SISD teachers during Public School Week.
  • Increase public awareness and knowledge about water issues.
  • Keep members informed of the issues coming before the
  • Economic Development Board, City Council, School and Library.
  • Keep the club informed of current international issues and urgent concerns.
  • Make lap throws and pillows for cancer patients at M. D. Anderson.
  • Monitor TFWC and Magnolia District Scholarship.
  • Present the Silsbee Public Library with a book about Texas.
  • Promote “Don’t Mess with Texas” anti-litter campaign.
  • Recognize Americanism Day at January meeting.
  • Recognize National Library Week.
  • Recognize United Nations Day, October 24, 2007.
  • Recognize World Day of Prayer, September 21, 2007.
  • Support City Clean-up.
  • Support Community Improvement Projects.
  • Support “Friends of Library.”
  • Support “Friends of the Library” and Silsbee Library.
  • Support GFWC in “Keep America Beautiful.”
  • Support GFWC projects CARE and Save the Children by distributing informational packets to the club membership.
  • Support Ozone Action Day recommendations;
    • Limit driving;
    • Combine errands;
    • Avoid drive-thru lanes;
    • Wait until late in the day to refuel;
    • Avoid gas-powered equipment;
    • Get a summer tune-up;
    • Turn off lights and appliances when not in use.
  • Support PVAC and its efforts to enhance art education within SISD.
  • Support SISD programs.
  • Support the Ice House Museum and its exhibitions.
  • Support TWC Writing Contest.
